Vacancy Technical (Project) Manager
For BESTSELLER, we are looking for an Onsite Technical Project Manager. This is a “project role” during the build of the site. Once operational, the role transitions into the role of Technical Manager within the operational organization.
Project Execution Phase
The Onsite Technical Project Manager is the BESTSELLER Logistic representative onsite, and as such will be one point of contact. It is expected of the role to be able to handle a great variety of tasks on all levels and across many different subject matters such as:
- Coordinate and participate with onsite contractor and primary project representatives from CW stream
- Align and represent key customer of site – Global Operations
- Represent BESTELLER Logistics interests onsite and acts as site manager from BS
- Be overall responsible for the MHE equipment installation on site in Lelystad and take the overall coordination role between Civil Works and MHE (KNAPP)
- Drive a small onsite team (4-5 people) supporting the MHE installation
- Planning and coordination of testing related activities
- Coordination with other areas of the project not related directly to build
You formally report to the strategic project organization but are part of the coordinating building team onsite as well as ensure alignment towards the overall program responsible.
You will work on site in Lelystad as your main location. But it will be required to travel to Denmark as a part of the start-up period to get to know BESTSELLER and the company structure and DNA.

Once Operational
The role of Technical Project Manager, changes once BESTSELLER is operational, into Technical Manager. As Technical Manager you are responsible for ensuring the continuous optimization, development, and maintenance of our automated distribution center. The primary responsibility is to ensure the smooth and continuous operation of the entire site, 24/7/365. The Technical Manager will be responsible for managing and nurturing a strategic partnership with our maintenance partners and will work closely with our technical partners to develop and implement the maintenance strategy.
The Technical Manager will be a key member of the logistics team and will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth and continuous operation of our automated distribution center in Lelystad. The successful candidate will have a strong background in technical management, with a focus on maintenance strategies and equipment life cycle management. They will also have excellent leadership skills, with the ability to lead and develop a team to achieve their best performance.
Key responsibilities
- Ensure continuous 24/7/365 operation of the site
- Develop and implement the maintenance strategy with technical partners
- Manage and nurture strategic partnerships with maintenance providers
- Oversee and develop the department to maintain optimal logistics facility conditions aligned with performance goals and strategy
- Ensure system availability, including access, data protection, fire safety, and site security
- Lead the Health & Safety organization, fostering a strong safety culture across all logistics sites
- Drive high-impact initiatives for building performance, site security, and people safety using advanced methods and technologies
- Continuously improve performance to maintain top-quality facilities and operations
- Deliver and enhance facility services, both hard and soft, aiming for best-in-class standards
- Digitalize maintenance, property control, and asset utilization to optimize performance
- Ensure seamless project transitions from planning to production, including automation considerations
- Provide facility data to support performance and availability for all stakeholders
- Advance sustainability and environmental goals in line with logistics and group strategies
- Deliver customer-demanded services competitively and effectively
- Foster agility and proactive collaboration to enhance customer satisfaction
- Build strong stakeholder relationships by promoting transparency and cross-departmental collaboration
Professional Responsibilities
- Define and implement strategies to achieve BESTSELLER Logistics ambitions.
- Ensure the right capabilities, processes, systems, and organizational structure to meet strategic goals.
- Develop leadership roles within the department to align with operational and development needs.
- Set yearly goals and ensure alignment and fulfillment through OKRs.
- Drive digitalization and optimization to balance workloads and maintain high service levels.
- Collaborate with the Logistics Management team and departments to advance BESTSELLER Logistics.
- Develop the organization by focusing on staffing, growth management, employee engagement, compensation, and communication.
- Oversee the departmental budget, including annual budgeting, cost monitoring, and optimization
Individual Responsibilities
- Implement and manage the maintenance strategy.
- Ensure effective collaboration with internal stakeholders (Operations, Security, and Tech).
- Develop and oversee Equipment Life Cycle Management.
- Drive data-driven, proactive maintenance planning, including annual maintenance cycles.
- Lead development and maintenance projects.
- Handle contract management and development with technical partners.
